YOUR BOUNDARIES MATTER
Connection at your pace.
Getting to know someone should leave room for choice. These practical steps can help you set boundaries online and when meeting in person. No app can guarantee your safety.
Share gradually
Start with interests and everyday conversation. Keep your home address, workplace schedule, financial details, identity documents and account recovery codes private. Review photos for details that reveal where you live or spend time.
Never send money, cryptocurrency, gift cards or verification codes to someone you have only met online. Be cautious of urgent requests, investment pitches or pressure to move a conversation before you feel ready.
A connection is not an obligation
You can pause a conversation, decline a meeting or stop replying. Interest once expressed is not continuing consent. Repeated pressure, threats, sexual demands or attempts to isolate you are reasons to step back.
Do not share someone else’s private messages or photos publicly. If you need to report harmful behavior, preserve only what is necessary and avoid spreading their personal information.
Plan first meetings with care
Choose a public place and arrange your own transport. Let someone you trust know your plan and when you expect to return. Keep access to your phone and a way to leave independently.
You do not owe anyone a longer meeting, a private location or physical contact. If something feels wrong, leave and reach out to someone you trust.
